Manchester City owner Sheikh Mansour has decided to circumvent the Champions League and build his own continent in a bid to bring continental success to the club.
News of the plans were leaked to media by an unnamed source within the club today.
“The owners are sick of losing in Europe, Mansour is a laughing stock among his group of friends at home,” said the source. “So he’s decided to build his own continent and host a tournament on it.”
The club’s failure to qualify for the Champions League final last season was said to be the final straw for the owner, who stated “building [his] own continent would be easier than winning in Europe within the next decade”.
According to leaked documents, Mansour plans to build the artificial landmass somewhere in the Pacific Ocean and expects completion by 2018.
Once completed, selected European giants – including the likes of Legia Warsaw, BATE Borisov and FC Sion – will be invited to the island for a mini-tournament.
It has also been suggested that Mansour may build an underground lair on the island.
