Transfer season got well and truly underway today as Harry Redknapp announced his intention to sign midfielder Niko Kranjcar on a short term contract for the summer. Kranjcar’s QPR contract expires on the 30th of June and with the relegated club looking to cut costs, Redknapp is hoping he can get the Croatian playmaker on a free transfer.
Although not currently managing a football team, Redknapp will look to put the Croatian to work as his personal assistant for the summer. If successful, it will be the 56th time he has signed the player.
“Niko is a good lad,” said Redknapp as he circumnavigated a roundabout in Bournemouth for 4 hours this afternoon. “I’ve worked with him before and I know he can do a job for me. I’ve seen him answer a phone a million times, he’s a natural. Providing we can sort out his wages, I think we can come to an agreement.”
Redknapp, who has not left his black Range Rover since leaving QPR, has also enquired about the availability of Jermain Defoe and Peter Crouch for doing odd jobs around the house for the summer months.
