According to sources at the Emirates stadium, Arsenal are weighing up the possibility of failing to sign Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski should they fail with a bid of Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

The Gunners have long been linked with the Frenchman, though he is said to be happy in Spain and remains an integral figure at the Bernabeu.

Should the club fail with a much publicised £30 million plus bid for the striker, they’re next target to not sign would be the Pole Lewandowski.

“We like the look of him,” confirmed a source. “Given the opportunity we’d love to give the impression that we could sign him before eventually going for a realistic target.”

Sources have stated that Lewandowski’s strength and accuracy are the main reasons Arsene Wenger is interested in being ultimately unsuccessful with a bid for the forward.

“He’s done it at Dortmund and he’s continued to light up the Bundesliga at Bayern. Though Benzema is our main target, if we miss out on him we’ll definitely look to miss out on Lewandowski afterwards.”
