Manchester City have announced today that their manager Manuel Pellegrini has signed a contract extension at the club until whenever Pep Guardiola becomes available.
The new deal was announced on the club’s official Twitter account this morning, after which chairman Khaldoon All Mubarak released a statement.
“We’re delighted to have tied Manuel down to a contract extension until whenever Pep Guardiola eventually becomes available to the club. It ensures we keep hold of a truly exceptional manager whom we can then get rid of at a moment’s notice,” read the statement.
“I’m delighted to have signed this new deal,” said the Chilean. “Pep Guardiola is a significantly better manager than I am and in truth, I’ve been on mental gardening leave for well over a year. I just hope Pep gets here sooner rather than later.”
At press time Pellegrini stated that his buddies were waiting outside and that he’s “good to go” whenever Guardiola wants to “rock up” to the Etihad.
