Pedro “excited” to be unappreciated and underused somewhere new

New Chelsea signing Pedro has expressed his excitement at signing for the London club, stating that he can’t wait to be unappreciated and underused somewhere new.

After seven years in and out of the Barcelona first team, the forward joined Jose Mourinho’s side earlier this afternoon.

Speaking to assembled media at the club’s training ground, he said that he couldn’t wait to begin barely playing under another manager who doesn’t appreciate the many qualities he has.

“I love Barcelona, I really do,” said the Spain international. “But after a certain amount of time at a club, knowing you’re not being appreciated, you need to move somewhere else.”

“Some players are happy to stay in one place, but I want to know what it’s like to feel ignored and underused under a new coach, in a different country and in a new league.”

Pedro said that he has watched Chelsea for years and had been inspired by the manner in which Mourinho has treated the likes of Mohamed Salah, Andre Schurrle and Kevin De Bruyne in recent seasons.

“As a professional, you want to emulate those kinds of players. They were left on the bench and just sat there. It’s an inspiration to me,” added the 28 year old. “I have a lot of qualities, and I think Chelsea is the best club for them to be consistently overlooked at.”

Adding that no one knows what the future holds, the Spaniard refused to rule out the possibility of being sparingly used in another league before the end of his career.
