Fans of PSV Eindhoven have been praised this evening after arriving at Old Trafford for their side’s Champions League match against Manchester United with a supportive banner for all their opponents’ players likely to be injured by Hector Moreno tonight.
The banner, described as “heartfelt” and “a breath of fresh air” by Manchester United supporters, was created to illustrate to the club that their soon to be incapacitated stars are being thought of.
“We just wanted to let the Manchester United players know that we’re thinking about them, and will continue to do so throughout their long and painful rehabilitation periods,” said PSV fan Michael Haaren ahead of the game, adding that it’s a true shame that the myriad injuries have to happen at all, but that they definitely will.
“That’s football. These things occasionally happen in football and, with Moreno on the pitch, certainly will. We just hope the players forgive Moreno and realise that accidents can happen, sometimes five or six times in the same game.”
At press time, many fans had pre-emptively sent flowers to several Manchester hospitals in preparation for the arrival of players later this evening.
