Daniel Sturridge’s season and Liverpool future is said to be hanging in the balance after sources confirmed this week that his foot had fallen off.
The Liverpool striker has barely played under boss Jurgen Klopp so far this season and is likely to miss even more time after an incident which witnesses say resulted in his foot and toes falling clean off the rest of his leg.
“It’s a pretty bad one. One minute we were there in training, Daniel attempted a shot and his foot just went. Just gone. We knew it was bad straight away,” said Klopp this afternoon, describing how the foot had flown close to 60 metres into the sky before landing in dense woodland next to the club’s training ground.
“These things are never easy but once we find and reattach it, I have every confidence he’ll be back to being the top class player with two feet we all know he can be. Hopefully it’s not as bad as it first looked.”
At press time, Sturridge was said to have grown even more downhearted after his arm fell off while he was pouring himself a glass of orange juice.
