Underdogs Manchester United succumbed to an inevitable defeat today against goliaths Bournemouth after a valiant display.
Louis van Gaal’s men fought from the beginning yet found the pace and effervescence of the Bournemouth steam train irresistible as they fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Speaking after the game, the Dutchman praised his players for their efforts.
“We all know what stature of club this is. And frankly we should be proud for having competed with this south coast giant at all,” said the former Barcelona man, adding that he was delighted with the spirit shown by his players in the face of such adversity.
“Today was a difficult day but we fought hard. I have confidence that within a couple of season we’ll be able to realistically consider beating a top side like this.”
