Former manager and current Sky Sports analyst Alan Curbishley has today announced his decision to retire from bookmakers’ odds lists for vacant managerial positions with immediate effect.

The ex-Charlton coach has sat comfortably at 10/1 for nearly all mid-level Premier League and higher level Championship job vacancies for the last decade, but revealed that it is time to move on with his life.

“It is with a heavy heart that I have come to this decision. I’ve had some wonderful moments on that odds list, comfortably wedged between realistic candidates and outlandish targets,” said Curbishley, adding that he was keen for a new challenge.

“Some out of work managers are lucky to get featured on one managerial odds list, but I’ve been blessed to feature among some of the best in Premier League history. I’ll never forget that.”
