Liverpool have confirmed today that Daniel Sturridge has strained his vocal cords after speaking out against the criticism he has received this season.
The striker recently hit back at reports questioning his desire to play through injuries, which have blighted his season. However, his club have revealed that in doing so, the former Chelsea man has seriously strained his vocal cords.
“Unfortunately, Daniel did serious damage to his vocal cords while speaking out against criticism which has been aimed towards him. The injury looks rather bad,” said a member of the club’s medical staff, adding that Sturridge’s voice would be out of action for at least a month.
“It’s a shame, but he just pushed his voice a little too hard, and he’s felt the effects. We’ll start him off next month with some light humming and see where he goes from here.”
