Struggling to contain a grin across his face and a warm flutter in his belly, Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino today reportedly struggled valiantly to pretend he’s disappointed at his club’s exit from the FA Cup.
The Argentine’s side exited the competition at the hands of city rivals Crystal Palace on Sunday after a 1-0 defeat at White Hart Lane. Speaking after the match, a visibly bashful and occasionally giggling Pochettino unconvincingly told reporters that he wishes his side could have done more.
“Oh yeah, yeah. It’s a real shame. It’s extremely disappointing when something you really want to win just slips away like that,” said Pochettino while covering his growing smile, adding that he had given his players a real talking to and certainly hadn’t thanked each of them personally for lightening their schedule towards the end of the Premier League season.
Placing his hand over his eyes in a bid to hide the sheer joy within, the former Southampton coach assured supporters that he and his players would try to overcome the disappointment as quickly as possible.
“We’ll do our best, but ooh, this one is going to be hard to get over. It just hurts so much.”
