Insisting that he had adequately prepared for all eventualities that may occur, Manuel Pellegrini today expressed confidence that staff at the Etihad Campus wouldn’t notice his four-hour afternoon nap.
Slowly reclining in his chair and putting on his specially-purchased fake glasses, the Chilean coach prepared to rest his head after what he described as a “hectic” hour of watching his players train out of his office window.
“It could be touch and go but I feel I have everything in place to make it through and come out the other end rejuvenated and refreshed,” said the former Real Madrid manager, adding that he has made four-hour naps a crucial part of his daily routine since announcing he would be leaving Manchester City at the end of the season.
“I’ve put a ‘Do Not Disturb’ sign on my door and besides, these glasses look totally legit so I’m not worried either way. It’s pretty unreasonable for them to ask me come in on a Thursday anyway to be honest.”
At press time, a sleeping Pellegrini was said to be smiling contently to himself while dreaming about the current situation in which he has found himself.
