Saying that no one can bring the same level of specific expertise to a club, Harry Redknapp today expressed his excitement at the prospect of bringing years of experience of signing the same four players to Derby County.
Redknapp is expected to be named as the Championship club’s director of football this week, and the former Tottenham coach has admitted he feels his unparalleled knowledge of repeatedly signing Jermain Defoe, Peter Crouch, Niko Kranjcar and Younes Kaboul make him the ideal man for the job.
“When you look at my CV, I’ve done it all. I’ve signed each of those players more than anyone else and that’s an indisputable fact,” said Redknapp, adding that he will do everything in his power to sign one or all of the aforementioned players at some stage throughout his Pride Park reign.
“If the manager wants Jermain, I have his number. Niko? Got his email address. Younes and Peter? I know where they live. At the end of the day you can only rate someone on their history and, as far as signing the same men regardless of circumstance, mine is flawless.”
Redknapp also revealed that he had spoken to Derby manager Darren Wassall and had assured him that he would wait at least six weeks before massively undermining him.
