Zinedine Zidane today brought transfer target Moussa Sissoko on a guided tour of Real Madrid’s Hall of Weird Signings in an apparent bid to convince the midfielder to join the Spanish giants.
The Newcastle United midfielder has been the subject of much interest from top European clubs after an impressive European Championship campaign, with Real Madrid joining Juventus and Barcelona in expressing a desire to take him from St. James’ Park.
Believing that the personal touch may be just the nudge the French midfielder needs to choose the Bernabeu as his next destination, Zidane accompanied the former Toulouse man through the secluded wing of the club’s stadium.
“Come look, Moussa, come look at what you could be a part of,” said the former Madrid captain as the two sauntered through the hallway adorned with framed canvases featuring the likes of Julien Faubert, Royston Drenthe, Jonathan Woodgate and Antonio Cassano. “That could be your face up there.”
“I watched you play during the Euros and I knew as soon as I saw you that you could be the new Thomas Gravesen. Imagine it, in 20 years people will be aghast when they remember that you played here.”
At press time, Zidane had also shown Sissoko the place on the bench to which he’d be relegated after a maximum of two or three competitive matches.
