The incident is believed to be the first time in history that a Twitter user hasn’t replied “shat on” after a tweet by Gary Lineker.

A Twitter user has been hailed for their stunning restraint today after replying to a Gary Lineker tweet with something other than the phrase “shat on”.

The incident, which occurred during half time of England’s World Cup qualifier with Slovakia, drew praise from other users of the social media platform.

“It was incredible. I clicked on the first reply to see who had written ‘shat on’ and there it was,” said Twitter user @ClimBoy4264, adding that he had originally planned to write “shat on Big Sam” himself but decided against it after seeing the stunning reply.

“It just goes to show you what people can do. Perhaps we’re not a lost cause as a species after all.”

At press time, @afcEnes had reportedly deactivated his Twitter account after being inundated with messages of “shat on Gary”.
