“First I’m going to put on First Goalscorer bet, then stick a few pound on an accumulator,” said the youngster.

Smiling contently as he imagined the excited cheers and disappointed groans coming from the crowd, Liverpool fan Timmy McCarthy told his father while watching football on television today that he can’t wait to bet on his first match.

Loudly listing his favourite bookmakers while scribbling their logos on a notepad, the 8-year-old described in detail to his parents how he plans to spend his first visit.

“First I’m going to put on First Goalscorer bet, then stick a few pound on an accumulator. I might even go for a few BTTS bets. It’s going to be so much fun, I wish I could go and do it today,” said the excited youngster, before inquiring over whether the odds differences between Paddy Power and Ladbrokes were really that great.

“I just know it’s going to be as fun and cool-looking as it is on television, and sure maybe if we have time we can catch some of the football too.”

At press time, McCarthy was reportedly crying after his father broke the news to him that Ray Winstone would likely not be there.
