Saying that it was a disgrace that anyone allowed the practice to take place at all, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp today asked Simon Mignolet to stop giving Loris Karius tips after the latter’s mistakes led to his side’s defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend.
Speaking to his squad at training this afternoon, Klopp is believed to have specifically warned Mignolet against telling Karius that all good goalkeepers in England spill the ball a couple of times each game.
“From now on, Loris trains with a coach and Simon trains with a different one, but please Simon, just stop trying to give him tips,” said the German manager, adding that his assertion that you get “one free mistake” during each match was not only false, but dangerous to his team’s chances.
“We appreciate that you’re just trying to help someone in your position with a new league but we really feel that it’s doing more harm than good.”
At press time, a furious Klopp was said to have called Mignolet to his office after hearing him tell his young German teammate that weak shots which squirm under your body don’t count as goals in the Premier League.
