Wiping tears away from his face as he marvelled at the sight in front of him, sobbing man Rich Ladle rejoiced at the greatness of Francesco Totti today while watching his first AS Roma match in a decade.
Sitting down to view the club great’s final match, the 27-year-old – who has not watched a single one of the Roman side’s matches in 10 years despite having the opportunity to do so each week – bemoaned the fact that he will never watch the 40-year-old striker take to the field again.
“His final ever game. How cruel this world is to have a great such as him finish his career. Though I guess we should be joyful that we have witnessed such a career. Totti is one of the greats, truly,” said the man during his first instance of watching the former Italian international play since a 1-0 win over Empoli in January 2007.
“It’s such a shame. What a great, not just of Roma or Italy but football in general. We will never see his like again, and we should savour this. It is an important moment in history.”
At press time, Ladle was writing an emotional tweet celebrating Totti’s career before being distracted by a video of a cat massaging a dog.
