Saying that he is excited to limit the risks associated with his investments across the board, Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke today gave a rousing speech to the club’s fans ahead of a potential takeover and admitted that he is excited to diversify his portfolio with the share purchase.
Speaking after news emerged that he was planning to buy fellow shareholder Alisher Usmanov’s shares for £525 million, the American businessman immediately sought to reassure Arsenal supporters over the future of the club under his potential stewardship.
“I am extremely excited to diversify my investment portfolio further. Arsenal Holdings PLC has a proud history of posting strong quarterly results and I look forward to adding to that illustrious success,” said the billionaire, who also owns a variety of American sports clubs including NBA side the Denver Nuggets and MLS team Colorado Rapids, before adding that he hadn’t been so excited about a business opportunity since establishing Kroenke Sports and Entertainment in 1999.
“Any fans of Arsenal Holdings PLC who doubt my intentions with regards to this takeover should look no further than my previous acquisitions of sporting organisations and franchises, and my track record of strengthening profit margins while continually keeping the sporting side of things afloat. I intend to do the same with this business and I look forward to your support.”
At press time, Kroenke also attempted to appease Arsenal fans by insisting that he had no intention of moving the franchise just yet.
