A writer for American sports website Barstool Sports has spoken today of his fear that he may have “caught gay” after watching a video of an American footballer comforting his crying teammate.
Speaking this afternoon, social media editor Tad McClusky admitted that he has become over with fears regarding his sexuality since viewing footage of New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. being hugged and supported by a teammate during their game on Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers.
“When I saw the video first I just thought it was funny: these two footballers acting all gay and shit. Being affectionate and supportive of each other; it was hilarious,” said the 27-year-old who specialises in Twitter posts about scantily-clad women at American football games.
“But then, the more I watched it I began to think that it might be turning me gay. I mean, I’m watching it and enjoying it. I’ve got a girlfriend and all that but I’ve watched it like 20 times. Maybe they’re not the gay ones. Maybe I am. I’ve tried watching a load of our other videos with girls in them since then but I still keep thinking about it. I dunno what to do.”
At press time, McClusky had reportedly hidden the tweet from his timeline for fear of ever experiencing such feelings again.
